CeMPEG Usability Challenge on May 15th, 2019

On May 15, 2019 the annual MediTEC Semester-Welcome together with the CeMPEG Usability Challenge in cooperation with the CeMPEG e.V. took place. The students were able to test their medical technology skills and the influence of good and bad usability on test setups. Within a competition, points could be collected and existing design deficits of different “surgical workplaces” could be fought against by operating “prepared” surgical navigation systems as well as surgical X-ray C-arm systems or training systems for minimal-invasive endoscopic surgery. In addition, special suits, test goggles and devices made it possible to experience the influence of age-related physical limitations on the fitness for use of medical devices at first hand.

In good weather, the students were also able to fortify themselves within a barbecue. In addition, the students were given the opportunity to get to know the Chair of Medical Engineering of RWTH Aachen University and the non-profit CeMPEG e.V. for the promotion of usability in medical engineering.
