First results of Germany-wide benchmarking of reprocessing units and a grant for further usability improvements

This year the first batch of data from the pilot benchmark for reprocessing units for medical devices was statistically analysed. The work aims to allow individual reprocessing units to compare their performance with other facilities for the first time. The results were presented at the congress of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sterilgutversorgung” (DGSV e.V.) in Wolfsburg, Germany, and published in the peer-reviewed journal “Zentralsterilisation”. As the initial results are promising, further work on the benchmark is conducted in cooperation with the DGSV e.V. and the Chair of Medical Engineering. The Cempeg e.V. is supporting further development with a grant from the “Richard and Annemarie Wolf Stiftung”, focusing on implementing assistance systems to improve the usability of the benchmarking tool for use in the reprocessing units for medical devices.
